And I haven't been exactly "productive" for the past month...

Okay. I did draw a couple of things and they ended up in the trash.

But anyway.

This week, I tested out coloring on colored Canson paper.

(The things you do when you run out of sketches....)

YES! I got accepted! Which is all sorts of awesome. I can't believe this four year old dream that's been stressing me out like a bitch all the time and I've worked so hard for came true. Besides, I'm going to be doing things I love for the next five years! I've heard it's going to be tough and stressful, but I vowed to myself I won't fall to it, I'll just keep up a good challenge, and focus on myself and work, and not let jealousy or weakness get to me.

Anyway.

I'm obsessed with Florence + The Machine's song Drumming Song. I think having five versions of the song on my iTunes certifies me as an official addict. So I decided to try myself with water-color and... well....

I really like this one. Except that it resembles someone.... which is creepy.

And finally,

I am fully aware how flawed they might be, but in my defence, each means something to me. :)

I don't think I need to tell you about what has been going on in Egypt. But the curfew has been the reason I couldn't ink my sketches lately. Last Saturday, I went stationary shopping with my family. Needless to say, shopping for art supplies is definitely my favorite type of shopping. I think I should mention that I wasted a fortune, but it was worth it.

I think I should mention this here: I'm going to my university's Art aptitude exam + portfolio submission + interview THIS Thursday. Yes, I'm thrilled. And yes, my feet and hands are already cold.

Anyway, let's get to the illustrations:

I'm sorry I've been MIA for a while, but I'm sure y'all know what's happening in Egypt + the internet cut off + me going on vacation before everything started. But today I'll present you three creations I'm really really proud of because they turned out to be exactly what I had in mind.

Oh, two things! I hope you like them as much as I do, and don't forget to click the pictures to view much larger versions!

1- "Masr"

(Arabic for Egypt)

: Pencils of different variations on paper + digital coloring.

2- "Sara".

: Pencils then watercolor on paper.

3- "Martin - the failure fish"

:Pencil + watercolor + photoshop for the typography. :)

It's such a ~winter song to me, that's why the drawing actually has a cold feeling to it and what not.

It started out as a simple illustration with pencil on paper, then I scanned it and colored it on Photoshop, this is the final result:

So I sat down, and decided I want to try out drawing eyes. And that was the outcome:

I actually really liked it, but then I thought maybe I should add watercolor to it and see how it turns out. So I originally planned to drop some colorful tears. I copied the drawing because I didn't want to lose the original (I'm obviously happy with it, which rarely ever happens), then once I started inking out the eye in black, things started developing to actually make an entire face! Then hair grew out and everything else. I'm really happy about the result actually, since I didn't use A SINGLE PENCIL! :)

(I know the nose is pretty messed up, and the mouth is pretty messed up too, but ....)
